Tranquility

When you feel your heart's about to explode
You mustn't ONLY bite your tongue
You have to reason with yourself
Take a deep breath & fill your lungs!

It's ok to let the anger in
As long as you know from where
To feel the heat overtake your skin
& acknowledge that you actually care

Because feelings are a constant fleet
I've learned to pay no mind
You'll never (again) find me off my feet!
Instead, I choose to always be kind!

So reticule me all you want!
Please, I beg of you to try!
A calmness now controls my soul
Hence, I need chaos to feel alive!

It was me

Everybody hates me
I can't say that I'm surprised
From the moment of conception
I was born to live a lie

Like a curtain makes the shade
A veil to cover the eyes
The weight of liberty's chains
Is what I've always despised

I knew my cards before they were dealt
The truth is I cheated myself
Thus, I'll proclaim in my final flee
It wasn't you, it was definitely me

Lessons

A child strutted down a gray gravel lane

That laid between a rose garden fenced frame

The young boy ran his fingers thru the brush

Filling the air with a strong floral musk

Suddenly, he retracted his hand with a wince

When it snagged some thorns on the rose garden fence

He cried aloud as his fingers ran red

The kind of yelp his mother did dread

So she descended from the house which they lived

To find her young son waist-deep in roses

She pucked him from the garden with care

& inquired in the first place, why he was in there

He replied to his mother, he wanted it dead

To kill the rose that had made him to bled

She cleared her throat, smiled, then said,

“My dearest child, do not be misled. Killing the rose won’t cure your bloodshed.”

This made the boy cry even harder it seemed

He already killed the rose in a vengeful fury

His mother smoothed the tears from his cheeks

Cleared her throat & again began to speak,

“It’s ok to feel bad. It’s all apart of life. After all, what is happiness if not in contrast to strife?”

Crutch

There was an Old Man who was
labeled a scrooge.
One day he found his pride to be
a bit bruised.
Because for years the Old Man had walked
with a cane,
Always pointing his finger at
someone to blame.
When on this day he turned a corner
& fell,
To find without the cane, he could walk
Just as well!

A Shadow

An inseparable companion
Caused by the interception of light
A comparative darkness
That is crystal clear in hindsight
Like the soul dictates a person
A shadow’s bed is made
From dawn to dusk, its fate is thrust
into a merciless grave
For a shadow is dependent
On the laws of light
& It’s movement is restricted
To it’s suburbanite.
Its fleeting fate is understood
& yet it goes ignored
I wonder if the shadow could
End the misery it endures
Because as the day persists
Shadows continuously change
This lack of self must be felt
with a tremendous sense of pain
So as the shadow dwindles down
To the object it draws near
The entity becomes unbound
As night reclaims the hemisphere
Therefore, a life is worth the strife
The truth shall be unveiled
A shadow’s love for the night
Is one that will always prevail

Touched

When you find this,
I hope you can say
That I have touched,
your heart in someway

I know my actions,
do not contrive
The actual feelings,
I hold inside

So let me clear the air once & for all
I love everything about this life
Despite the disasters soon to befall

Away

It's probably time to run again.

How shall I plan my escape?

By sea, train, or plane?

All of which, a great topic for debate!

I just need to be gone, away from here.

Where the distance is near,

& life is revered.

Thoughts at Night

You left me at my weakest time

How dare you think to call me; mine

That time you beat me in the car

Audacity to act like life is hard?

Like I shouldn’t have jumped

out the window

What should I have done?

Stayed with a joke?

We were nothing, do not misblieve

Life with me would have been misery!

Runaway

You know I’m going to leave again
No matter how hard I try to stay
God bless the souls who take me back
…Fate is biologically engrained

So, for your sake, I will stay away
A need for attachment is one I lack
I was born & bred to runaway
BUT! Never presume I don’t look back!

Give A Word...

Haven’t you heard I’m a disappointment,
& that’s all I’ll ever be.
So, the best advice I can give to you
Is to stay away from me.

Elephant in the Room

They brought a great big elephant
Indeed, they brought him everywhere
It is a massive elephant
& still nobody seems to care
For that reason, I inquired of this elephant
Because I simply could not ignore
I asked them why in the hell
Would they bring an elephant for?
An elephant is so obnoxious
It drives me up the wall
When people readily ignore it
Just because it’s against the law

Crossfire

A battlefield lies within
Two sides that cannot win
They placate to trickery
Only few are able to see
...It's embarrassing

Oh, please stop the fight
How slant thou's sight
Please, please!
It's devouring me!

Trust me, it's not a choice
Believe, I would rather rejoice
Mercy, mercy!
I beg of thee
...such a travesty

It's over, give up, give up!
Crossfire? For what?! For what?!
Alas, my soul, remit, remit!
Worst part? I cannot quit..

Here we go again...

It seems Lindsay Lohan cannot stay out of trouble. The washed-up actress rejected a plea deal Wednesday for a felony grand theft charge for allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, California jewelry store. However, the details of the plea deal were undisclosed. (At least to my knowledge.) Nonetheless, A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 22, in which a judge will hear evidence & decide if the theft case should go to trial. In addition, the same judge will decide if Lohan violated her probation for a 2007 drunk driving conviction by being charged with the felony.

As bad as all this sounds, Lohan may have a promising defense considering it was revealed this month that the representative from the jewelry store who accused Ms. Lohan of theft has been conspiring with an agent about a possible book deal. It should also be noted that the jewelry store sold the rights to the security video of Lohan in the store on the alleged day of the crime. Therefore, the jewelry store may have alternative motives in accusing a high-profile celebrity of theft.

Either way, the penalty for a felony grand theft conviction ranges from 16 months to three years in a California state prison. The exact term would be based on the value of the property stolen & the criminal record of the defendant. Shoplifting offenses are charged as petty theft if the property taken is valued at less than $950...

Verdict: She's a Train wreck. Lohan has been in court nine times in the past 10 months, mostly for hearings related to probation violations for her drunk driving case. She did a short stint in jail in 2010, but also checked into substance abuse rehab twice under court order. It's clear judges hate her by their interaction & statements towards the young actress. Whether they are justified I simply do not care. However, as always, I do hope the facts of the case are accurately discerned so that justice can be properly served.

The Human Brain in Love

It is obvious that both men & women experience positive reactions in forming relationships; however, the opposite can occur when these relationships dissolve.

When a woman & a man fall in love, their brain circuits are under major reconstruction. The sex hormones released cause the individual’s brain cells to grow and sprout extensions, that would take several years to form structurally sound connections. According to Dr. Louann Brizendine’s, The Female Brain, the male & female brain of a romantically involved couple produces the most irrational behaviors & promotes illogical thinking (Brizendine, 66). The brain of an individual in love is in a state that is comparable to that of a drug addict. (Brizendine, 66) Turns out Kesha's hit song, Your love is my drug, is more than just a catchy jingle. The withdrawal effect resulting from a breakup is comparable to that of a drug abuser's withdrawal symptoms. In fact, when a relationship dissolves, the individuals can experience physical pain equivalent to those accompany a sobering addict (Brizendine, 75). Statistics show that men are more likely to commit suicide after a breakup, while women are more likely to fall into depression. One explanation is that women may have a larger social network to fall back on after a relationship goes sour. In contrast, the male may not allow himself to open up to many people; hence, he may have more difficulty recovering from the breakup than his former partner.

The main point is that the withdrawal effect that occurs after a breakup can cause physical pain. Recent brain-imaging studies have shown that social rejection triggers the same circuits of the brain that physical pain does (Brizendine, 75). This can explain some of the irrational behaviors observed in both women and men during and after an intimate relationship.

The verdict is still out on love: The purpose of love has perplexed scientists & laymen alike. However, the biological explanation for relationships & love is simple; it is nature’s way of preserving the human race (Brizendine, 87). When a female sees a man that she is most likely to reproduce with, her brain releases chemicals that alert her of this attraction for the male & vice versa in the male's brain. Dr. Brizendine states, “Mother nature uses everything at her disposal to make sure couples get together and make babies… The sexual desires trigger for both genders is androgen testosterone” (Brizendine, 89). Whatever you choose to believe one thing is for certain, love has inspired men & women alike to produce masterful works of art, writings, novels, movies, & more. Therefore in conclusion, I'll leave you with Henery David Thoreau's famous quote, "The only remedy for love, is to love more..."
